Street fair

This weekend Saint Petersburg hosted an art fair and a craft fair. They had them right next to each other. People with stores nearby took advantage and placed their merchandise on the sidewalk. It all made the concept of "art" kind of ridiculous. On the street no one has any trouble distinguishing what art is. It's a label that makes things more expensive.

Anyway, I liked looking at the people. Lots of sunglasses and flip-flops--casual dress, because we're all fat and casual clothes fit us better. And of course anyone who could was getting around on wheels.

Everything is greasy, but in a good way--makes it feel authentic. Boxes of peanuts (given away free), containers of peanut oil, and bags of potatoes sit prominently on the floor. A sign informs patrons the exact farm where today's potatoes were grown.

The burger is good, but I'd be happy just eating the fries. That's probably the smart thing to do.

Sign of the times

Adopt a pond

In America if you need a public place, such as a road, kept free of rubbish you don't have to pay anyone. People volunteer to pick up garbage in exchange for recognition, usually a small sign near where they volunteered.

Good job Codou family; that pond looks very clean!
